Here’s today’s “Too Much” picture. Obviously it’s too much. Most of the time when I’m posting a Too Much picture it’s because I feel guilty, like I’m eating too much which should be my first clue. But here’s why I ate this. The spaghetti was leftover and down to the dregs. I only had about 1/4 -1/3 cup left so I sautéed string beans and ate that on top. I didn’t think that was enough added some smoked chicken (5 oz.) and roasted sweet potatoes (1/2 cup). WHAT I SHOULD’VE DONE: eaten the first part, waited to see if I was still hungry and then ate the rest.
Why I didn’t do that:
I overslept and missed the 7 am yoga so I didn’t go until 9 am and I continued to sleep until 8 am so I didn’t have timet to have my smoothie before class (can’t do Bikram on a full stomach-gross!). So I ate breakfast at 11 am and I was sooooooooooo hungry! Then I think the hunger continued into lunch and my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I know this now because it is 4:00 pm when I’m writing this – 2 hours after lunch and I’m still full. No Bueno. So yeah, I definitely overate.
So lesson today: If it looks like it’s too much food, it probably is and so eat less, wait and if you’re still hungry then eat the rest. IT WILL ALWAYS BE THERE (God-willing).
It is sad to admit, but I am still working on training myself on how much to eat. I’d like to get to the point where I feel like I can always eat the right amount of food at every meal – the amount of food that I truly need and nothing more. And I hope that the work I am doing now, the work that I am blogging about – gets me to this point……one day soon.
